Its wide viewing angle covers every seat that’s in front of the screen, great for viewing parties and other large gatherings. Screens like the Vividstorm S Pro and EluneVision Aurora 8K are specifically designed for ultra-short throw projectors, and won’t work with standard throw models. The Elite Screens ezCinema 2 is the opposite, optimized for standard-throw lenses and not ideal for use with ultra-short throw models. A useful analogy is that a projector screen is to a projector as the tires are to a car. If you’ve invested in the best projector, you don’t want a screen that’ll downgrade your viewing quality.
What I didn’t like about the VIVIDSTORM S Pro Projector Screen
This model is one of the better ultra-short-throw screens available, despite not being quite as assured as the Screen Innovations Solo Pro 2, and costs just over a quarter of the price. It offers outstanding picture, especially in rooms which are not perfectly dark. Although the gray shade might not look great when it isn’t being used, it’s able to push back up to 65% off-angle ambient light.
TheAeon CLR®is an EDGE FREECLR®fixed frame screen that uses Elite Screens innovativeStarBright CLR®(Ceiling Light Rejecting®) material. Its serriform optical surface lens microstructure negates the washout effect of ambient light especially from overhead sources. Best Fixed Frame Projector Screen enables the material to provide contrast levels that are 100 times greater than that of standard matte white projection screens. TheAeon CLR® 3is an EDGE FREE®fixed frame screen that utilizes our CLR® 3 (Ceiling Light Rejecting®) material.

At the touch of a button, it could just roll away – although you will certainly pay for the privilege. Motorized or automated screens, which roll up into their housing, are typically a little more expensive than static screens, which don’t. We think one of the best motorized screens, for reference, is the $318 Elite Screens Spectrum 2, along with the VMAX2 mentioned above. If you’re looking for a screen that can pull double duty as both an indoor and outdoor system, then it’s worth checking out the Elite Screens Yard Master 2. We think it’s the best ‘double duty’ screen on this list, with a better picture than the cheaper JaeilPLM 100 Inch 2-in-1. The robust construction and high quality materials make the Yard Master 2 a good pick and, as a bonus, it’s exceptionally easy to set up.
Some people may not want an 80″ to 120″ projector screen permanently attached their wall. Depending on the screen you have, it may not be the most attractive thing to have hanging on a wall at all times. If the projector screen is not in a dedicated home theater room then it’s nice to be able to easily hide or remove the screen. This is where a motorized or manual projector screen comes in handy.
